Thank you for your response. Your words resonated with me and made me think. I edited my “Latinx” article to remove my criticism of the term “Chicanx,” and the stale jokes. You are right, they were unnecessary and mean. My reasoning wasn’t very well thought-out. And, in retrospect, my position was based on conflating the two terms.
